Policies & Guidelines

Before booking your stay at Bridle Ridge Horse & RV Camp, please take a moment to review our policies. Doing so will help ensure your visit is seamless and enjoyable. We're committed to providing an exceptional experience and your understanding of these guidelines plays a crucial role.

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION AND REQUIRMENTS


Our goal is for you to have a WONDERFUL time riding, camping and enjoying these beautiful Black Hills and to help you and your mount stay safe while doing so! 

BUSINESS HOURS ARE 9 AM TO 5 PM EVERYDAY. ANY NEEDS OTHER THAN A TRUE EMERGENCY INVOLVING A PERSON OR EQUINE WILL NEED TO BE ADDRESSED DURING THESE HOURS.  THIS INCLUDES TRAILER RENTALS, HAY AND PELLET PURCHASES, SETTLING ANY OUTSTANDING DEBT, TRAIL INFORMATION AND ALL OTHER GENREAL QUESTIONS.

* BRIDLE RIDGE DOES NOT ACCEPT CREDIT OR DEBIT CARDS AT THIS TIME PLEASE BRING A CHECK OR CASH FOR ALL PAYMENTS.


 YOUR BALANCE IS DUE IN FULL UPON YOUR ARRIVIAL. 30 DAYS OUT THERE ARE NO REFUNDS FOR EARLY DEPARTURES or OR LATE ARRIVALS


* DEPOSITS

   We require a 50% deposit to be mailed in by check in order

   to secure your reservation. Please mail your deposit to the address

   listed on your reservation confirmation. 


* CANCELLATION POLICY


 Cancellations occurring 90 days or more out from the date of your arrival will     a 100% refund less a $25.00 processing fee.


 From 61-90 days of your arrival you will receive 75% deposit refund less a $25.00  processing fee.


Should your cancellation occur 31-60 days from your arrival date you will         receive 50% of your deposit less the $25.00 processing fee.



Cancellations occuring 30 days or less from your arrival date your deposit will be forfeited.  If you are able to reschedule for the same number of days or more  within the same calendar year you may roll your deposit over to that time. Should   you need to cancel the second reservation at any time your deposit will be forfeited.


THERE ARE NO REFUNDS FOR EARLY DEPARTURES OR LATE ARRIVALS


IN THE EVENT OF A PANDEMIC, GOVERMENT SHUTDOWN OR AN UNCONTROLLABLE EVENT VOUCHERS WILL BE ISSUED INSREAD OF REFUNDS.

HAY

Certified Noxious Weed Free Hay is not required.  We encourage you to bring your own hay.  We do have a SD pasture mix available for 15.00 per bale.


* CHECK-IN

 Is after 1 PM AND BEFORE 7 PM on the day of arrival.

   

 HORSES WILL NOT BE RECEIVED AFTER 7 PM so please plan your travel to include these arrival times.


* CHECK-OUT

   Is before 11:00 am on your day of departure. If you would like a later check out or would like to

   stay longer please check at the office to see if those request can be fulfilled.


PLEASE STOP AT THE BARN UPON ARRIVAL TO CHECK IN

  *  HAVE READY A PAPER COPY OF YOUR NEGATIVE COGGINS TEST PERFORMED WITHIN THE LAST 12

      MONTHS.

  *  A CURRENT HEALTH CERTIFICATE FOR EACH EQUINE IN YOUR POSSESSION.

  *  CASH OR CHECK FOR YOUR REMAINDNG BALANCE


  In the event of an unforeseen outbreak of any disease having been reported in a state where a horse is from or has traveled through additional procedures may be required by the state of South Dakota.


* HORSES MAY NOT BE UNLOADED UNTIL UNTIL ALL HORSE RELATED PAPERWORK IS COMPLETED.  A THROUGH VISUAL INSPECTION OF YOUR HORSE WILL BE DONE BEFORE IT IS ALLOWED INTO THE BARN. THIS POLICY IS THE INCLUSIVE OF BOTH SOUTH DAKOTA AND NORTH DAKOTA EQUINE. 


* IF YOU ARE INVITING FRIENDS FROM OTHER PLACES TO DAY RIDE WITH YOU PLEASE MAKE SURE THEY COME  PREPARED WITH THE SAME DOCUMENTATION.


* YOU WILL BE ASK TO SIGN A LIABILITY WAVIER AND PAY YOUR BALANCE IN FULL AFTER UNLOADING YOUR HORSES.


* OUR TRAILS

 PLEASE DOWNLOAD THE GAIA GPS APP PRIOR TO YOUR ARRIVAL IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO PURCHASE THE BASIC MEMBERSHIP AS IT GIVES YOU MANY MORE MAP OVERLAY OPTIONS INCLUDING PRIVATE PROPERTY.  THE DAY OF YOU ARRIVAL I WILL THEN TEXT YOUR OUR TRAIL FOLDER LINKS ON GAIA.  PLEASE LEARN HOW TO USE THE APP BEFORE YOU GET HERE.  DOING SO WILL SAVE YOU VALUABLE RIDING TIME AND MAKE YOUR EXPERIENCE ON THE TRAILS MUCH MORE ENJOYABLE AND HASSLE FREE.



* BARN AND PEN RULES

  * No more than one horse is allowed per stall or pen.

  * YOU DO NOT NEED CERTIFIED WEED FREE HAY. Pastue mix hay is available for 15.00 per bale.

  * PELLET BEDDING IS REQUIRED IN ALL STALLS.

  * We suggest starting with 2 BAGS bag per stall or pen and add up to 1/2 of bag every day or so as needed. Pellet bedding is available here for 12.00 per bag. You are welcome and encouraged to bring your own pellett bedding.


  * Stalls and pens MUST be cleaned twice daily in the morning and evening.  Wheel barrels and forks are supplied for

     your convenience.

   * ANY STAY LONGER THAN 7 DAYS REQUIRES THE STALL TO BE COMPLETLY STRIPPED AND ALL     NEW BEDDING INSTALLED.  THIS ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT FOR MONTHLY STAYS.

  * UPON DEPARTURE ALL BEDDING MUST BE STRIPPED FROM EACH STALL AND PEN

  * PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN FEED AND WATER BUCKETS.  Water is supplied by hose at the end of the barn.

  * PLEASE TACK YOUR HORSE AT THE BARN

    Saddle Racks and pallets for your tack and feed storage are supplied at each stall  If you are uncomfortable

    leaving your tack at the barn you may use a wheel barrel or your  truck for transporting it to and from your trailer.

  * HORSES ARE NOT ALLOWED AT THE CAMPSITES.


*  GROUPS

    If you are traveling with a group of 2 or more please allow the smaller rigs to pull in first.  This allows our staff to help unload

    the horses, feed and tack more efficiently and get everyone moved into their stall and sites quicker.  Our goal is not to keep rigs

    waiting in line for longer than absolutely neccessary. Generally the smaller the rig the quicker it can be unloaded and moved allowing for

    the next guest in line to be served.


 * QUIET HOURS

    Are between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.


 *  VISITORS

    ANY VISITOR WHO IS EXPECTING TO RIDE WITH YOU MUST INFORM THE OFFICE IN ADVANCE.  IN ADDITION, ALL

    VISITORS MUST STOP AT THE OFFICE AND SIGN A LIABILITY WAVER UPON ARRIVAL AND SHOW THEIR EQUINES

    NEGATIVE COGGGINS AND CURRENT HEALTH CERTIFICATE NO MATTER WHERE THE EQUINE IS FROM.  Campground Staff reserves the right to limit additional vehicles per campsite. 


 * PARKING

    Please park all rigs and tow vehicles on the graveled part of your campsite. Staff reserves the right to limit

    additional vehicles per campsite. Vehicles are not allowed to block the road or adjacent campsites.  At no

    time is parking of a rig or car allowed in the pasture because it will damage the septic system. Anyone who

    parks there will be liable for any and all damages. The speed limit is 10 miles per hour.


 * CHILDREN

    Parents are responsible at all times for their children’s safety and behavior. Please supervise small children

    in showers and restrooms, and do not allow children to play in the roadway.


 * PETS

    Bridle Ridge is a very dog friendly campground however all dogs must be leashed at all times. Please pick up after your pet. You may allow them to run off leash on the forest service side of the campground.  Dogs may not be tethered to utility fixtures, picnic tables, trees or fences. Animal waste must be picked up by the pet owner. Please do not allow your dog to bark excessively outside or inside of your trailer.  Nuisance pets will not be allowed to stay at the campground.


*  CAMPFIRES

    Everyone loves a good campfire but there are times when wind and drought make them very dangerous. Please be advised there may be times when campfires are not allowed due to these conditions. It is illegal to bring firewood into South Dakota from out of state. Personal charcoal and propane grills are permitted.  Do not put hot coals in

    garbage containers. Please do not burn garbage in your firepit or leave cans or trash in the      firepit.

 

*  SMOKING

  Smoking is prohibited in or anywhere near the barns.  Please do not throw cigarette butts on the ground or in the firepits but dispose of them in a proper container.  A tossed cigarette butt has caused many forest fires so please be

 careful smoking in the campground and on the trails.



 * FIREWORKS

    Fireworks are prohibited on the campground premises and on the property.

 

 * GARBAGE

    Help us stay clean by depositing all garbage in the dumpsters located at the barn.

 

 * TREES

   Trees, and the shade they provide, are an integral part of an enjoyable Campground experience. However, healthy and well-maintained trees pose a natural hazard of falling debris, such as leaves, pine cones, branches and even entire trees may come down during extreme weather conditions such as wind, rain, hail or snow. Bridle Ridge Horse and RV Camp LLC. or Bridle Ridge management is not responsible for loss or damage to property of guests including horses due to falling trees or branches, fire, theft, accident or any other occurrence.


 * AFTER HOURS SECURITY

 *  Management reserves the right to add additional rules at any time.

 *  Management also reserves the right to refuse service to anyone or to ask a guest to vacate the premise, when safe to do so, for reasons including but not limited to...

  * Over indulgence in alcohol to the point it becomes a disturbance to others or a danger to the guest.

  * Loud music, talking or laughing past the quite time of 10 pm. and refusing to quiten down when ask.

  * Disorderly conduct that may result in harm to the guest or others.

  * Abusive language directed towards a member of ones own party,

   management, another guest or animal. 

  * Smoking in or near the barns.


These basic rules and regulations are in place for the safety an enjoyment of all our guest and to help insure everyone has a great time while staying at Bridle Ridge.  Thank you for your for taking the time to familiarize yourself with our policies and for your cooperation in adhering to them.

 

WARNING

UNDER SOUTH DAKOTA LAW, A PRIVATE CAMPGROUND OWNER OR AN EMPLOYEE OR OFFICER OF A CAMPGROUND OWNER IS NOT LIABLE FOR AN JINURY TO OR THE DEATH OF A PERSON OR ANY PROPERTY DAMAGE RESULTING FROM THE INHERENT RISK OF CAMPING.

PURSUANT TO S.D.C.L. 34-18-42 AND 34-18-41 et seq.


WE REQUIRE ALL FOLKS STAYING WITH US OR VISITING WITH FOLKS STAYING WITH US TO READ AND SIGN THE FOLLOWING WAIVER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY UPON ARRIVIAL.


WAIVER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY

PLEASE DO NOT SEND THE LIABILITY WAIVER BACK WITH YOUR DEPOSIT CHECK.


In consideration of the risk of injury while participating in camping, trail riding, boarding of horses, parking of rigs and tow vehicles, grilling, hiking and all other related activities on the premise of Bridle Ridge Horse and RV Camp LLC. and in the Black Hills National Forest (the "Activity’s"), and as consideration for the right to participate in the Activity’s, I hereby, for myself, my heirs, executors, administrators, assigns, or personal representatives, knowingly and voluntarily enter into this waiver and release of liability and hereby waive any and all rights, claims or causes of action of any kind whatsoever arising out of my participation in the Activity’s, and do hereby release and forever discharge Bridle Ridge Horse and RV Camp LLC and the owner Sheri R. Spurlock, located at 24795 Saginaw Road, Custer, South Dakota 57730, their affiliates, managers, members, agents, attorneys, staff, volunteers, heirs, representatives, predecessors, successors and assigns, for any physical or psychological injury, included but not limited to illness, paralysis, death, damages, economical or emotional loss that I may suffer as a direct result of m participation in the afore mentioned Activity’s, including traveling to and from an event related to these Activity’s.

 

I AM VOLUNTARILY PARTICIPATING IN THE AFOREMENTIONED ACTIVITY’S AND I AM

PARTICIPATING IN THE ACTIVITY’S ENTIRELY AT MY OWN RISK. I AM AWARE OF THE

RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH TRAVELING TO AND FROM AS WELL AS PARTICIPATING IN

THESE ACTIVITY’S, WHICH MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, PHYSICAL OR

PSYCHOLOGICAL INJURY, PAIN, SUFFERING, ILLNESS, DISFIGUREMENT, TEMPORARY

OR PERMANENT DISABILITY (INCLUDING PARALYSIS), ECONOMIC OR EMOTIONAL

LOSS, AND DEATH. I UNDERSTAND THAT THESE INJURIES OR OUTCOMES MAY ARISE

FROM MY OWN OR OTHERS' NEGLIGENCE, CONDITIONS RELATED TO TRAVEL, OR THE

CONDITION OF THE ACTIVITY’S LOCATION(S). NONETHELESS, I ASSUME ALL RELATED RISKS, BOTH KNOWN OR UNKNOWN TO ME, OF MY PARTICIPATION IN THESE ACTIVITY’S, INCLUDING TRAVEL TO, FROM AND DURING THESE ACTIVITY’S.

 

I agree to indemnify and hold harmless Bridle Ridge Horse and RV Camp LLC and the owner Sheri R. Spurlock against any and all claims, suits or actions of any kind whatsoever for liability, damages, compensation or otherwise brought by me or anyone on my behalf, including attorney's fees and any related costs, if litigation arises pursuant to any claims made by me or by anyone else acting on my behalf. If Bridle Ridge Horse and RV Camp LLC and the owner Sheri R. Spurlock incurs any of these types of expenses, I agree to reimburse Bridle Ridge Horse and RV Camp LLC and the owner Sheri R. Spurlock.

 

I acknowledge that Bridle Ridge Horse and RV Camp LLC and the owner Sheri R. Spurlock and their directors, officers, volunteers, representatives and agents are not responsible for errors, omissions, acts or failures to act of any party or entity conducting a specific event or activity on behalf of Bridle Ridge Horse and RV Camp LLC and the owner Sheri R. Spurlock.

 

I ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THESE ACTIVITY’S MAY INVOLVE A TEST OF A PERSON'S

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL LIMITS AND MAY CARRY WITH IT THE POTENTIAL FOR DEATH, SERIOUS INJURY, AND PROPERTY LOSS. The risks may include, but are not limited to, those caused by terrain, facilities, temperature, weather, lack of hydration, condition of participants, equipment, vehicular traffic and actions of others, including but not limited to, participants, volunteers, spectators, event officials and event monitors, and/or producers of any events.

 

I ACKNOWLEDGE THAT I HAVE CAREFULLY READ THIS "WAIVER AND RELEASE" AND

FULLY UNDERSTAND THAT IT IS A RELEASE OF LIABILITY. I EXPRESSLY AGREE TO RELEASE AND DISCHARGE Bridle Ridge Horse and RV Camp LLC and the owner Sheri R. Spurlock AND ALL OF ITS AFFILIATES, MANAGERS, MEMBERS, AGENTS, ATTORNEYS,

STAFF, VOLUNTEERS, HEIRS, REPRESENTATIVES, PREDECESSORS, SUCCESSORS

AND ASSIGNS, FROM ANY AND ALL CLAIMS OR CAUSES OF ACTION AND I AGREE TO VOLUNTARILY GIVE UP OR WAIVE ANY RIGHT THAT I OTHERWISE HAVE TO BRING A LEGAL ACTION AGAINST Bridle Ridge Horse and RV Camp LLC and the owner Sheri R. Spurlock FOR PERSONAL INJURY OR PROPERTY DAMAGE.

To the extent that statute or case law does not prohibit releases for negligence, this release is also for negligence on the part of Bridle Ridge Horse and RV Camp LLC and the owner Sheri R. Spurlock, its agents, and employees.

In the event that I should require medical care or treatment, I agree to be financially responsible for any costs incurred as a result of such treatment. I am aware and understand that I should carry my own health insurance.

 

In the event that any damage to equipment or facilities occurs as a result of my or my family's willful actions, neglect or recklessness, I acknowledge and agree to be held liable for any and all costs associated with any actions of neglect or recklessness.

 

This Agreement was entered into at arm's-length, without duress or coercion, and is to be interpreted as an agreement between two parties of equal bargaining strength. Both the Participant, _____________________________________, and Bridle Ridge Horse and RV Camp LLC and the owner Sheri R. Spurlock agree that this Agreement is clear and unambiguous as to its terms, and that no other evidence will be used or admitted to alter or explain the terms of this Agreement, but that it will be interpreted based on the language in accordance with the purposes for which it is entered into.

 

In the event that any provision contained within this Release of Liability shall be deemed to be severable or invalid, or if any term, condition, phrase or portion of this agreement shall be determined to be unlawful or otherwise unenforceable, the remainder of this agreement shall remain in full force and effect, so long as the clause severed does not affect the intent of the parties. If a court should find that any provision of this agreement to be invalid or unenforceable, but that by limiting said provision it would become valid and enforceable, then said provision shall be deemed to be written, construed and enforced as so limited.
